So, I am laying in bed watching the hockey game and my very pregnant Maria comes waddling in calmly telling me she is going into labor.
Naturally I freak out.
I run to the phone, dialing Kyle and Tess's number praying they will be home. Luckly Tess answers the phone....and I, well I say the first thing that comes to my mind, "MARIA IS IN LABOR, GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE NOW!!!
Okay, maybe I was a little rude, but I think I have the right to be slightly crazy and rude.
I turn to see Maria laying on the bed.
I tell her not to push or anything and she just gives the the biggest "no duh" look ever.
I go and sit by her and grab her hand and patiently wait for Tess to arrive.
Maria has been in Labor for over 5 hours now.
I have been called every four letter word and then some, I also think I have a bald spot on my head from when I foolishly went to kiss her cheek while a big contraction just hit her and she used my hair as life line.
Tess is telling her to push now and I go to resume my spot by her side to hold her hand, I grab my work gloves on the way there....
But Tess looks up and shakes her head and mouths no.
I don't know why my hands have to suffer, but I guess she thinks it will upset Maria, so I guess I have risk loosing the use of my hands.
I am now sitting next to my wife as she holds our new daughter.
Yep, daughter...
She is so small, and she looks just like my Maria.
We named her Emma, it seems to fit, the name I really wanted to give her was Xena, but everyone thought I was joking, I wasn't I like that name.
Maria looks up at me and smiles, I lean in and give her a kiss to let her know how proud of her I am and how much I love her.
Its been a month since Emma was born and I don't think I have made it through an entire night sleep yet. She is really loud, another thing she gets from Maria.
I am getting used having a daughter, even though there are a lot of things I need to learn about having a baby, I mean how was I suppose to know they can only drink formula? Luckly Maria stopped me before Emma could drink any of the pepsi I put in her bottle, but really how much harm could it have done, Maria didn't have to freak out.
Amy is over here all the time, most of the time she is a help, other times she just gets on my nerves...
Like the other day I was sitting on the couch holding Emma and Amy walks in, without knocking of course and I tell Emma that her grandmother is here. Well Amy stopped dead in her tracks, gave me a death glare, and told me that the word "grandmother" was not to be spoken until Emma could talk.
I shutup right away, the woman is just scary sometimes.
The best part of it though is watching Maria and Emma.
My girls.
They make my life wonderful and fun. I mean each day Emma does something new, and it amazes me that this little person is a part of me.
Now if I can get Maria to have ten more of Emma, than life will be complete.
The End
