Disclaimer: They don't belong to me, but they really don't belong to anybody.
Note: I really don’t like giving my plot away, thus why I don’t give descriptions and if I do, they aren’t they great So this came from a little email conversation with Didi Who would have thought I could finish it in 5 hours. There is always a first time for everything!

He put out a hand to cover his eyes as the sun shined brightly behind the towering figure that stood over him. He should have stayed down the first time, but he got up, stupid move. He looked up at the figure, still standing there with their hand on their hips, unmoved. Finally, he laid his head back to the ground and closed his eyes. He felt the grass stir as the person moved away, satisfied that he didn't get up.

After a few seconds he opened his eyes and looked around to make sure the coast was clear. Getting up, Michael brushed the dirt off of his clothes. He ran his fingers through his spiked hair a few more times just to make sure all of the grass and dirt was out, he made the mistake last time of not cleaning thoroughly and got in trouble with the teachers for bringing dirt and grass into the classroom. He spotted his friend and started to walk towards the monkey bars, still brushing away the dirt that seemed to be imbedded in his clothes.

"Thanks a lot Maxwell." Michael stood in front of his childhood friend and glared at him. They had been friends since the beginning of school, but Max just had stood there as Michael was being attacked.

"Sorry-” Max didn’t look up. He was intensely looking at the ground, kicking the invisible rocks that were lying around his feet.

“It’s alright-” Michael sighed. “But next time if you see it coming, please tell me so I can hide.” Max finally looked up and nodded profusely. Max’s ears seemed to grow larger as he gave Michael a huge grin, happy that his best friend was no longer mad at him.

Michael smiled back at Max and in unison they both screamed, “Alien Attack!” They both bolted and ran across the playground towards the other side of the fence, away from the other second graders.

The blond haired girl skipped across the playground as her ponytail bounced up the down playfully. She coughed to get their attention, but the pair seemed to not notice her. She coughed a little louder, but they continued to ignore her.

“Hey!” she said annoyed.

“Go away Iz,” Michael said without looking up while he continued to be busy.

“Why?”

“Because-”

“I have a secret-” She tried to interest them, but they didn’t pay her any attention. Both, Max and Michael, kept on doing what they were doing.

“We don’t care!” Michael made a face when he missed his mark. Isabel was getting miffed since the boys continued to play and in the process ignored her.

“What’s so fun about throwing rocks?” Isabel asked.

“They’re NOT rocks!” Max tried to explain to his sister. “They are proton torpedoes!” Max threw another torpedo and hit his mark, then made explosive sound effects. Isabel just rolled her eyes; she never did understand boys, even if one of them was her own brother.

“You’re throwing rocks at a can. What’s so fun about that?”

“It’s not a can. It’s a UFO. And we are protecting the Earth.” Michael threw a couple more torpedoes, but missed the ‘UFO’ again.

“You’re throwing rocks at a can,” Isabel stated matter of factly.

“Use your imagination!” Michael exasperated. He was getting a little peeved; having a girl around made him throw badly.

“I don’t have to. I have friends.” Isabel turned around and waved to the group of girls standing around the swings, giggling. All of them enthusiastically waved back at her.

“Then why aren’t you with them?” Michael looked at Isabel then looked over to Max. “Captain Michael, calling Captain Maxwell. The Mother ship has been spotted. I repeat the Mothers ship has been spotted.”

“Confirmed. Move into position Alpha Alpha Phi.”

“Acknowledged.”

“Would you two stop it! I have something important to tell you!”

“Maxwell, we are being hailed from the Alien Mother Ship.”

“Confirmed.”

“It might be a trick.”

“Agreed. But let’s hear what the Alien Queen’s demands are. Remember to proceed with caution,” Max gave a warning look at Michael. Max rose up his hand, ready to shoot the next proton torpedo. Max nodded to Michael to do the same.

Isabel just rolled her eyes. Why was she always the Alien Queen? “Well I heard from Laurie Dupree, who heard it from Courtney, you know the one with the big nose.” Michael and Max nodded in agreement about Courtney and continued to listen to Isabel. “Courtney was told by Kyle Valenti, who heard it on the bus this morning, on the way to school, from Liz Parker that Michael has a girlfriend!” Isabel let out a fit of laughter when she saw Michael’s face.

“You take that back!” Michael had dropped all of his torpedoes and was standing defensively as he pointed a finger at Isabel.

“Nope! Because the last time Laurie told me Billy what-his-name liked me and I went up to him and ask him. And she was right, he did like me!” Isabel stood there smiling smugly at Michael.

“That’s a lie! Maxwell- make her stop lying!” Michael looked over to his best friend for help, but Max just shrugged his shoulders.

“So who’s your girlfriend?”

“I do not have a girlfriend!”

“Yes you do!”

“Do not!”

“Do too!” Isabel smiled a gummy smile and turned around and started skipping back to the group of girls who were now openly staring at him. Michael's face quickly turned red as he heard Isabel chanting, “Michael gotta girlfriend, Michael gotta girlfriend” over and over again.

Michael opened his mouth and started to shout at Isabel but the ringing of the ‘End of Recesses Bell’ drowned his words out. Michael held back as everybody ran into the building, he didn’t want to see anybodies faces. He hated school sometimes. Hands in his pockets, Michael slowly walked toward the door as he kicked the annoying pebbles on the ground.

He groaned as a figure stepped in front of him. Not again! He closed his eyes and scrunched up his face, ready for the blow, while repeating in his head, “I do not hit girls. I do not hit girls. I do not hit girls. ” After a few seconds when nothing happened, Michael opened his eyes to see her still standing there looking at him with her green eyes, slightly smiling at him.

“I just wanted to apologize for hitting you yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, and, well for all the time I hit you. And especially for today.” She stood there looking at him while rocking on the balls of her feet.

Michael was speechless; he didn’t expect this, so all he could do was nod at her. She gave him a big smile and out of the blue, leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek then ran into the building. His hand touched the cheek that just had been kissed and it felt hot, he felt hot. Michael blinked a few times; he would never understand girls, especially ones like Maria Deluca.
